Back in the 1960's my dad Robert C. Porter was a Palmer Township Supervisor and a Fire Department Commissioner I was caught one day by the police Dept for trying to smoke out a groundhog in a dry field a block away from 3018 Fischer Road where we lived. He took my over to the Firehouse to have Chief Buss have a talk with me about setting fires in dry brush. I remember the Mack fire engine real well s he wanted me to wax it for punishment that truck looked as big as a house. It has stuck with me to this day. When my dad was dying in the hospital he told me to do something good with my background being a photographer. He talked fondly about the Palmer Fire Department.
Since that time 10 years ago I have been a volunteer with the Daisy Mountian Fire Dept. In North Phoenix Arizona as a photographer Also I am a Helicopter Mechanic working with the Phoenix Police Department and a mechanic on the Phoenix Fire Department Agusta 109 twin engine rescue helicopter. All started with the Palmer Fire Dept. Thank you for the memory it was a big part of my life
Would you have any pictures of that Mack engine anywhere in the Township archives?
